Papua New Guinea is an agriculture-based country with 85% of its 7.5 million people depending on the sector for their livelihoods. This is the sector that provides food security, creates employment, brings family income and contributes to the national coffers (approx 30% GDP). The sector plays a key role in the socio- economic development of the country and is the second largest foreign exchange revenue earner after mining and petroleum.
